Design is everywhere. Design Museum Gent makes you aware of the great impact design has on your daily life. Through the extensive collection, which runs from the fifteenth century to the present, we show the responsibility that designers, producers and consumers bear in this respect.

Design is more than form and function. It is a reflection of the thinking at that moment. From the object we learn more about culture and technology, but also about ecology, politics, mobility or gender. Each object in our collection is a layered snapshot full of fascinating stories.

But we are more than a museum. Design Museum Ghent is a meeting place for everyone with a heart for design. Makers and users. We want to strengthen the Belgian design culture and use design to highlight broader social themes such as sustainability, mobility and intelligent technology. In addition, we are investigating what role design can play in the future.

Eethuis De Fobie

Good food, but not always even friendly reception.

“Eethuis De Fobie, a nearby restaurant, is located in a building that dates from before 1830. Although the authentic façade still needs a major facelift, the interior was not only drastically renovated in 2008, but the menu was also updated:

You can still come to us for delicious pastas and healthy salads, but a hearty piece of the finest quality meat has also been given a place. Regularly changing suggestions inspired by the seasonal cuisine offer a nice addition.

In the summer we would like to welcome you on our indoor terrace. Due to the limited number of seats, both indoors and outdoors, we do recommend making a reservation and people who have little time in the afternoon are strongly advised to place their order by telephone before 11 am. All our dishes are homemade and prepared with the utmost care and should be given the time and attention they deserve.

Till soon, Ann and Steve”

Address:  Brusselsepoortstraat 61

One minute walk from the apartment, go left…

Owned by Ann and Steve. They serve fresh salads, tasty steaks for meat-lovers and delicious pastas.
